Having almost folded 2 weeks prior Cullercoats girls with 5 fresh faces into the squad kicked the season off in style.
Wylam deservedly went ahead on 12 minutes. Cullercoats got back into it with a great strike from Mia Wallace from right edge of the box. A fantastic team goal put the doves in front on 26 minutes when Kennedi Baxter got on the end of a Mia Wallace cross. Kennedi then helped herself to her brace on 32 mins with great pressure on the away keeper. Wylam then retorted with the goal of the game, a 25 yard strike into the top corner, 3-2 and half time.
Cullercoats were awarded a penalty on 51 minutes after a handball in the area and Kennedi Baxter obliged for her hat-trick. 4-2. A rehearsed corner give Cullercoats clear daylight when Chloe McKenzie thumped home for 5-2. Wylam used subs well and looked strong in the final quarter and grabbed 2 goals late on and but for a superb save in the dying moments from Libby Hall in nets, she almost certainly denied Wylam a point.
Cullercoats player of the match went to Mia Wallace for a superb performance in the number 10 role.
